Dear Children’s Hospital and Medical Center Administration, I am a Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine, and I have worked at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center for eleven years. I am writing to disclose information that I believe demonstrates a misuse of locus of authority, a breach of the American Medical Associations Code of Medical Ethics, and a breach of Children’s Hospital and Medical Center Code of Conduct by Dr. Bud Shaw. After verifying the facts of Dr. Shaw’s story with the employees that were on duty at the time of the incident, I have chosen to share the information with the administration of Children’s Hospital and Medical Center. On October 15, 2015 in a personal conversation that took place in the cafeteria of Children’s Hospital and Medical Center between Dr. Sally Doe, Dr. Shaw, and myself; Dr. Bud Shaw shared the actions he took in the care of his daughter while she was a patient at Children’s Hospital and Medical Center in late September of 2015.…
The late Diem Brown was a magnificent woman who had an energy and grace to her that would only be seen in fairytales. When she was just twenty-four years old, this self proclaimed dancing queen got cast to be on a reality competition show where she fought against other competitors in a series of challenges to claim a grand prize of two-hundred and fifty-thousand dollars. As her first reality TV debut hit, she hid a secret from not only her cast mates, but also from the world. This beautiful energetic soul had closeted the fact that she had been diagnosed ovarian cancer. Through here life she not only had to fight cancer one time but in all she battled against it for a heart wrenching three times.…
Information of this nature cannot be kept confidential, as the child’s life and health are more important than confidentiality…
Nurses have the privilege of being with a person during what could be one of the most significant and meaningful moments of their lives. In the film Wit, Vivian Bearing learned a great deal about herself and the human experience while she was in her most vulnerable state, battling stage four ovarian cancer. She was urged into accepting a rigorous and debilitating chemotherapy trial by her physician, Harvey Kelekian. The insensitivity and coldness she received from Kelekian and his team of doctors left her yearning for human kindness, something she never applied to her own career. Degraded and scared, it led her to question the value of academic pursuit if it meant sacrificing human wellness.…
The main findings of this study include: 1), the OSA group performed significantly worse on the SRT delayed recall compared to the non-OSA group only after antidepressant treatment at week 16, and the results remained significant after controlling for the baseline performance; 2), compared to the non-OSA group, the OSA group had a greater microvascular burden with the evidence of more severe MRI signal hyperintensities of DWM, PVH, and SCG, as well as higher percentages of patients with advanced lesions (e.g., grade 2 and 3) of DWM, PVH, and SCG; and 3), between the groups, the differences in the hippocampal and entorhinal cortex volumes were not statistically different, and the results did not change after controlling for intracranial volume.…
a. If I was the primary nurse for this patient I would inform him that with this specific situation, he might want to tell his wife. That way he would have the necessary support to get through the next steps of the treatment that he is going to have to endure. Also, I would stress to him this is something a person should not have to face by themselves especially if they have someone that is able to be a great help to them. But, ultimately if the patients does not want to tell his spouse it is his decision and I have to honor the fact he does not want to share this information based on HIPPA violations.…
At clinical I experienced a situation which reminded me of an ethical concern in which poor communication existed among health care professionals. One of the other student nurses in my group told me that her nurses was not listening to what she was saying. The student nurse informed me she told the nurse that the patient’s pulse ox was 82 and the nurse did not address the concern. She said the nurse was looking at her, but started talking to the doctor who just walked in the room. A couple minutes later the nurse asked the student if she took the pulse ox.…

I wonder if they would have treated him differently if they had knowledge of his daughter’s position. The health care worker doesn’t realize peer disparities affects patient care and they suffer. I’ve heard and seen it all; that’s not my job, why can she/he do it, I refuse or I’m going to ignore. In the meantime, poor patients are left stewing in their own waste, unfed and mistreated. The end result to your story, they mistreated the wrong patient and lost their jobs.…
The relationship between federal and state is the funding in the measured amount paid through Medicaid, this is funded by state and federal taxpayers. The term long term car means people with chronic illnesses, disabilities, and conditions that require daily assistance. The older you get, the better chance you are to be in a long term care facility, 70% of people over 65 can sooner or later be in a nursing home. The regulations state and federal are to protect the patients from neglect and abuse.…
The practice standards and entry-to-practice competencies are helpful for nurses in providing competent, safe and ethical care. The practice standards describe the role of all nurses and protect the public from any kind of harm (CNO, 2009). These standards support nurses to understand their responsibilities and outlines the expectations of nurses for the public (CNO, 2009). Also, the practice standards are followed by all nurses in their area of practice (CNO, 2009). The entry-to-practice competencies are client centered and focus on up-to-date developments in health care practice in nursing.…
Professional Moral Compass in Nursing Values play a significant role in shaping professional identity by influencing the actions and behaviors of practitioners in their day to day activities. Three fundamental personal values shape my understanding of nursing. To begin with, being a nurse requires a person to be very responsible. Being responsible means that nurses should not only be willing to do what is expected of them but also beyond these expectations as long as it will improve patient conditions. It is the level and sense of responsibility within each nurse that will determine the cases of negligence and poor patient care.…
We all inherit some or most of our behavior traits from our parents and ancestors. If our parents suffered from addictions or disabilities, it is likely that we will endure the same misfortunes. Also, if our parents have short tempers, emotional break downs, or anxiety attacks when upset or under pressure, it is possible that we will react in the same way when upset or under pressure. The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Culture can affect how patient’s behavior based on how they were raised.…
As nurses, we sometimes get ourselves in situations whether or not to respect the client’s wishes when they are against the medical orders for care. In Burkhardt and Nathaniel (2014), ethical dilemmas are when there are conflicting morals happening with a patient. To help guide the nurses, ethical dilemmas require them to think critically about situations and figure out the appropriate decision to create the best outcome for their patient and patient’s family. According to Murray (2010), nurses require moral courage, which requires to them to stand up for what they believe in when it comes to providing the safest and ethically care for a patient. No matter how a situation conflicts with an ethical aspect, being able to speak up for the patient and knowing their best interest makes for better nurses.…
AICPA The role of the external auditor is to identify items that might be causing DOW’s transfer of financial assets account to somehow make their financial statements materially misstated by designing and executing auditing tests. As I stated before DOW trades accounts receivable with many third party clients and conduits, in effect making the transfer of financial assets section of their company to be very complicated and susceptible to fraud. When an auditor is approached to complete an audit of DOW’s transfer of financial assets, there are a few steps that need to be taken in order for the auditor to protect himself. The auditor needs to learn about DOW and its environment, assess the risk of material misstatement and look into designing and planning audit procedures needed to complete the…
