Doyl's The Adventure Of The Speckled Band

The story “The Adventure of the Speckled Band” by Sir Conan Doyl features Sherlock Holmes, Dr. Watson, Helen Stoner, and Dr. Roylott trying to solve a mystery. The story takes place at Stoke Moran, Dr. Ryolott’s mansion, in April, 1883. Helen Stoner visits Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson to see if the detectives could solve her case. Helen tells Sherlock that her sister, Julia, died before she was married and now Helen fears that she could possibly die the same way. Helen does not know what had caused her sisters demise and she wants to find out before it is too late. Sherlock Holmes says that this case is important; he later arrives at Stoke Moran to investigate. After Helen was done talking to Holmes, Sherlock said that they needed to take action immediately. Dr. Roylott walks into the room of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson claiming that Sherlock and Dr. Watson should not interfere between him and Helen. Helen tells …show more content…
He noticed that the bed was attached to the floor. The bell was there so the snake could pass through the hole and climb down to the bed and climb back up. The test that Dr. Roylott gave to Julia was not real. The effects of the poison of the snake takes only ten seconds to take its toll on the victim. Sherlock took into account that Dr. Roylott had animals that were from India. Dr. Roylott most likely trained the snake to go through the ventilator and to go back when he blew a whistle. There were red hearings that lead us, the readers, to think that the gypsies were the murderers. Helen is no longer petrified, she is filled with joy now that she can be married without the worry of dying. The mystery was challenging to solve; now that the mystery is solved, the story became uplifting. Helen will soon be married and will live a life not being fearful of her stepfather. Although Sherlock Holmes is unhappy that his cane is damaged, he is relieved to have the case
