We woke up to something that smelled like bacon. After granddad and I walked to the kitchen like zombies, our mood completely changed. "Delicious!" Granddad hollered, as he split a biscuit and tossed a slab of bacon on it. Grandma had woke up early for us then cooked an amazing breakfast. I didn't realize something at first. But then I was with a brick. "Oh yeah!" I said excited. "It is opening day of dove season!" After scarfing down our breakfast. We left for the long dove hunt. We loaded up our spinny chairs, shotguns , shotgun shells, camouflage and tons of little Debbie', we left for the field. The hunting spot belonged to a man named Terry Helton, a friend of my granddad. We began to set up, Terry hid beside a power line pole …show more content…
I do not want to boast, but I have been shooting pretty much all my life. but shooting a dove? That's a different story. Around here, not even some of the most skilled marksmen can bring down these birds. After shooting about a box of shells, I noticed something. My shotgun wadding was flying behind the birds! That means I was not aiming far enough in front of the doves, they fly so fast even a shotgun can not hit them when aimed directly at them. I had to make a lead on them. Thinking to myself , I could remember Mr. Myers talking to me about this. He had said "When shooting at a dove you can't aim right at the thing. You gotta aim a little in front of them just enough so they fly into the shot, it won't ever touch them if you're just aiming right at them." So I tried out what he said. After waiting a bit for one to fly in, I had my chance . I waited for the best shot possible, I waited, and waited, then I stood up from my hide and shouldered my trusty Remington 1100, took the lucky lead the fired! a puff of white down feathers floated in the air and across the field as if it was a scene from Forest Gump. After harvesting a total of 9 delicious game, I finally got the hang of hunting

“Killing the Big One” It was just any ordinary day in January and deer season was in full swing. We had been hunting hard all season and I was still yet to get my first ever deer. I was being patient though and not trying to rush things because even at the sight of deer my heart would start pounding out of my chest! My dad would always remind me “You just have to breath and stay calm then aim at the front shoulder and squeeze the trigger.”…

After laying around for awhile I told my dad it was time to go back out to the stand.…

I looked over and saw a buck standing there, eating the frozen grass. I started shaking, thinking that I might actually shoot something within the next 10 minutes. I grabbed ahold of my gun and got prepared to shoot. My dad told me to pick a spot for me to shoot when the deer walks there, so I pick a big oak tree straight in front of me. The buck started walking toward the tree I picked, so I put my eye up to the scope, and gathered myself to shoot.…

The Adrenaline that a hunter feels being in the top of a tree stand waiting for the perfect deer to hunt is absolutely incredible, however hunters are not always lucky enough to find their prey. My dad and I began going around the ranch a day before we went hunting, we looked around to see where the biggest deer’s were located. We tested and align the rifles, to leave everything prepared to go hunting the following day at dawn. We were very positive that we were going to be lucky enough to hunt a big trophy deer, tough the results we had were never crossed our minds.…
