Brand Benefits Of Dove's Personal Care Practices

The brand that I chose to consider for brand extension is Dove. Dove brand is known for their personal care products that includes the Dove bar and body wash, deodorant, hair, lotions, men care, DermaSeries, Expertshave, and beauty awards. Dove’s mission is to inspire women to feel confident in their beauty and raise self-esteem so they may reach their full potential (Unilever, 2016). I suggest that Dove extends their products to vitamins and supplements for skin and hair and nails. Dove is well-known for their products for sensitive skin along with promoting healthy looking skin. Not getting enough water, vitamins and sleep can also affect how your skin looks, how you feel physically and how eventually your self-esteem if you aren’t happy with your appearance. Deficiencies of vitamin A, vitamin C, riboflavin, niacin, pyridoxine, vitamin E, zinc, selenium, and certain fatty acids, have been shown to cause skin anomalies (Pappas, 2011). The vitamins and supplements should come in a pack that contains all of the essential vitamins needed for promoting great skin and hair to include the list above. It will also focus on giving the person the energy to exercise, control appetite, fiber, and metabolism to generate weight loss. A part of feeling great about yourself also ties into weight control and how your outer appearance may look. Although the Dove products that currently exist may have your skin and hair feeling great and looking great, to support the overall mission to raise self-esteem, a person needs to feel good about themselves on the inside and outside as well. Weight affects many people’s self-esteem and the way that they define themselves as it relates to beauty. When you feel good and look good, it is an enhancer to your self-esteem.
