Douglas Fagerstrom has it right when he states in his book, “The ministry staff member,” “You only have one chance to make a first impression, often an impression is the mold to which others will conform.” As staff members it is imperative that our performance is at a standard worthy of following. Paul in 1 Corinthians encouraged believers to “follow my example, as I follow Christ” (1 Cor. 11:1 NIV). Our goal should be clear. Charles Tidwell makes a great point about the purpose of the church, “The purpose of the church is to be a fellowship of persons who have received Christ, and who are attempting obediently to live the way of Christ and to work faithfully with Him to bring others to God.” I believe in doing so we can be a force for good. …show more content…
Cousins states, “To counter those heresies, he urges pastors to return to the biblical concept of leadership and experience a leadershift, a concept of “equipping others, using the gifts God has given you.” William Caldwell also states, “A good administrator is not one who does it all, so that it will be done right, but one who allows others to use their gifts, even if it is not done exactly right.”
We do this through performance standards. In Matthew it states, “His Master replied, well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things” (Matt. 25:21, NIV). As a church we must desire to be faithful in all we do, from the small things to the larger things.
Understandably we know we are not performers, but our expectations and performances in our areas of work must always be moving forward. Certain criteria must be met in order to continually grow our area of ministry. They are the
