Douglas Bader's Determination Essay

The most determination from any human being ever, came from a man named Douglas Bader. He was a pilot in World War ll, that had both of his legs cut amputated from a horrific crash while test flying a plane. Even though he lost his legs, joined the war soon after the accident. Thats just shows how much he wanted to fight for his country. Most people would just be frustrated and give up on there amputation and live the rest of their life in guilt that they didn't do anything about it. Therefore Douglas as a perfect example of never losing hope, pure determination, not giving up, and always helping others when you can. Douglas Bader was born February 21st 1910, in London. Even though he was born in London he spent his early years in India. When he returned to the United Kingdom. He decided that he was going to join the Royal Air Force College at Cranwell in the future when he was eleven years old. He did the because his uncle was adjutant to the Royal Air force College. When he was around the age of eighteen he won a scholarship there, he eventually graduated in 1930. He was a very good sportsman, at Cranwell he represented: Rugby, Shooting, Hockey, Boxing and Cricket. From Cranwell Douglas was posted to No>23 Squadron at Kenley, flying the Gloster Gamecock. He was fighting for his country and would've lost everything to win. He lost his legs and got through it by himself then joined the war again. Even when he was a prisoner of war he kept trying tie after time to get out. That the most determination you can possibly have. Not only did he not ever give up, after the war he helped the people who had lost their limbs, he probably went through the same thing they did.
