Doughnut Research Paper

Decent Essays
Alyssa,
I agree with you that businesses and societies should shift their focus to keeping sustainability in mind versus the unlimited economic growth they currently have in mind. The Doughnut concept is very interesting to me and made me wonder, how the “safe” boundaries are determined, and of the three boundaries we have gone over is there a way to cross back or are we out of luck? There is a lot more into making sure our future and environments are not in jeopardy for the future but I think for too long people have grown accustom to having an endless supply to what they need that it might be too late for some people to change their thinking and follow the concepts Raworth describes in her video.

One in four Americans eat fast food at least once per day. Over 1 billion doughnuts are consumed per year in the U.S. Personally, I feel the government should have limited if any control on what we choose to consume. When the government puts restrictions on foods or drinks it could make the population retaliate in a negative way.…

These factors are defined by the human population, social wants and needs, and the energy used (Tait, Hanna). The innovative technologies used today are greatly depended on because they are what keeps the developing society and economy functioning. It is inevitable that the finite resources and short-term demands of the human population will overwhelm the planet to replenish and provide in order to satisfy the population. As Paul Gilding, a writer, activist, and adviser on sustainability states, “we 've created a little too much stuff -- so much that our economy is now bigger than its host, our planet”.…
