Doug’s dad was often in a bad mood and always really abusive to Doug and his family. He lied to Doug about his baseball and money that he won at the Ballard Paper Mill in a trivia game. Doug went to go get his ball after school and Mr. Ballard said “ I sent it home with your father” (171). Then Doug went home and asked his dad but then his dad started to lie to about it to Doug. On pages (178-179) it says “ He said that he gave you the signed baseball and a 100 dollars. My father put his two hands flat down on the table . He looked at me for a long time. “What are you trying to say” I’m telling you what Mr. Ballard said. “ If Mr. Big Buck Ballard gave me the signed baseball and a hundred dollars , then he’s a liar you got that.” Another piece of evidence is that on page (146) “ He didn’t have to and he smacked me” It shows he was abusive to Doug …show more content…
Doug’s brother Christopher has this tattoo on his back that says “ Mama's Baby” On the night of Doug’s Birthday his dad, shows up drunk and wakes Doug up in the middle of the night and takes him to this tattoo place. On page (146-147) “... Doug’s dad lays him on the couch. Then He forces and holds his beery hands on Doug’s face” He did that to his son and forced him then when doug really didn’t want to get the tattoo. Doug’s dad then went on to start hurting doug's feelings by making fun of MR Ballard. Mr. Ballard is a close friend of Doug. On page () “ I’ll make it a habit if I want too.” The habit was making fun of Mr ballard by calling him “ Big bucks
