Dorothea Lange was a famous photographer during the Great Depression. Dorothea Lange lived an interesting childhood. Lange took many popular pictures during the Great Depression era of different people. In addition even during Lange’s final years of life she still had a very fascinating life style. Dorothea Lange had an interesting life as a child. She was born on May 26, 1895 in Hoboken, New Jersey as Dorothea Nutzhorn. She lived with her father Heinrich Nutzhorn who was a lawyer, her mother Johanna who was a stay at home mom, and her brother Martin. Sometime in between July and August of 1964 Lage was diagnosed with cancer in her esophagus. In September 1964 Paul Taylor’s son, and her stepson, Ross Taylor died abruptly died at the age of 39. Later that year and on into 1965 the National Educational Television started playing on television two, half hour shows that were about Dorothea Lange and her life. Also in 1965 Lange started working with John Szarkowski, curator of photography at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, on the MoAM exhibit. On October 11, 1965 Dorothea Lange passed away, she died from the cancer she had in her esophagus. Although Dorothea Lange had died her spirit had not. In january of 1966 Dorothea lange's photos were exhibited at MoMA. In 1967 Dorothea’s photographs for her book Dorothea Lange Looks at the American Country Woman were published.
