The dorms of St. Norbert College mirror the dynamics and interaction found in a small community. Many bonds are forged in the lower classmen housing and these often times harbor everlasting friendships that stand the test of time. However, this is not always the case. Especially in freshmen housing, many quarrels arise between residents as well as RAs. In attempt to steer away from such hazards, I am in search of a plan of action that would build and improve the community in the dorms. Some of the problems that currently exist are resistants not obeying their resistant assistance, jealousy, and conflict between roommates. The rule states that the people should take care of one another as well as take care for the sick. No one should be denied anything if their life is dependent on it. Addressing the second part of Augustine’s guideline, it is also the RA’s job to show respect to their resistance and set good example for them. Occasionally, the RAs at St. Norbert College drink. Through these actions, the residents see that their superior -- the RA -- is drinking and breaking the rules, so they then believe that repeating these actions would be a minor offense. Furthermore, both the resident and the Resident Assistant play a role in the superior and subordinate dynamic. As shown in his rule, Augustine would believe that the resident should confide in as well as obey their RA, but the RA must also guide them in a direction that would benefit themselves and the surrounding
