What's the difference between an antelope and a gazelle? The answer is simple: gazelles are a genus of antelopes. Even though the two are so closely related, they are distinct from each other in many ways. The addax antelope and dorcas gazelle have unique appearances, but the two African native animals have a similar diet and habitat.
Although they show many differences in size, the addax antelope shares a number of physical similarities with the dorcas gazelle. On one hand, the addax antelope is much larger, with an average weight of 220 to 330 pounds. Females are 10 to 20 percent smaller. All addaxes are approximately 37 to 45 inches at the shoulder.
