To Diavolo, he can’t help but view Doppio as anything other than his child, and like any parent, he wanted the best for his child. By all means, he had known he wasn’t the best for raising a child, or being a parental figure by all of those same means. (For fucks sake his own damn childhood was better off repressed.)
It was unknown to him how if his child saw him back the same way.
