Door Opens Another Door Will Open

Someone say our lives do not end until we die, or like, when door closes another door will open. Personally, I believe that our lives can last for a long time if we always think positively in daily life. When we think positively in a hard situation, we will always find a way to solve the situation. It was the same for me when I first came to America for studying. Two years ago, I decided to leave my country for studying in America. It took me a long time to get ready to depart my country and step my foot to here. I still remembered the first moment when I arrived at LAX airport. After over twenty hour flight, all I got to see is a completely new place that I had never seen before. I only knew a little bit about America on TV and photos on …show more content…
My English skills are good based on my country education, but they are nothing to compare with the natives when I came here. The entire things, which I expected before, did not happen in the right ways. I started to struggle with English and communication. Struggling to understand the teachers instructions made me want to give up and go back home badly. A lot of students made jokes of me because I am different than most of them, and could not get along with them. I could not handle anything because I may be too immature for that. I was stressed and needed help from my family and advisors. The school offered an English tutor for me after school to help me improve my skills. Then, I kept thinking positively about my goal to get to college and graduate. Setting my goal and adapting to new culture were all in my mind at that time. I studied all days and explore new places with my new friends. As expected, another door opened for me two month later. I could catch up with my teachers and classmates for class discussions. Good grades and graduation from high school were my great achievements after my struggles. Everything went through smoothly until I had to take a year off for waiting my new immigration status to apply for college. From what I learned about my hard time before, this struggle could not knock me down again anymore. My parents always backed up and cheered on me whenever I suffered stresses.

Following that I was ridiculed for being smart they said I just wanted to show off when really I just did not want to see my friends struggle. They would not have been the first people I tutored a bit at that point which they didn't know that because at that point I was almost ashamed that I was outside of them. When all my friends from high school went to college, I decided to study one more year to achieve my dream. I was not frustrated with this failure because I strongly believed that I can go to my dream school if I do my best for the following one-year. After receiving the level test at the college preparation institute, however, I realized that I lacked basic skills in math and science and I needed more efforts to keep up with other students who are preparing for a college. Everyday, I went to the college preparation institute to take classes and stayed at the classroom to study more even after class, which gave me less time to sleep. However, this tenacious effort still did not lead to increased scores.…

It began as me just being her after school co-worker to me being an active part of her classes learning several times a week.
