Brother spent endless hours helping Doodle to walk and to be like a normal boy. Brother took lots of his own time to help Doodle walk. Doodle was never to be able to even stand up all the doctors said. Brother was embarrassed to have an invalid brother so he set to prove everyone wrong and teach Doodle to walk while, Doodle and brother kept the whole thing from their parents. “Oh you can walk” I said, and I took him by the arms and stood him up (Hurst 3). Brother used Doodle to make him happy. When he did something nice for Doodle it made Brother feel good about himself. But Doodle and Brother needed each other to be happy. “Doodle told everyone that it was I who taught him to walk, so everyone wanted to hug me, and I began to cry” (Hurst 3). If Doodle and Brother didn’t have each other they wouldn’t be successful. Doodle relied on brother for teaching him how to be normal and to be his friend.
