Don’t Medicate! Stay Healthy and Great!
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder is a disease that cannot currently be cured and effects a lot of elementary aged children. That is not to say that stimulants do not aid in some of the treating of the symptoms. Children are very different in their means of reacting to the way they are helped with such symptoms. Some children take it in a way that others do not. That means that proper doctor’s visits are needed to ensure their own ways of adapting to alternatives other than medication. Medication is not the best substitute for such harmless actions. Therefore, medication is not the best alternative for children with ADHD.

Furthermore, there have been alternatives to helping a child which in turn are a whole lot more realistic to their potential health. Caffeine has been proven to be beneficial for treatment in ADHD. The caffeine works in the same way the drug would. It is a stimulant so the effect is the same just with a much less consequence. Just like anything else, a close eye should watch the amount of caffeine consumed. If not watched the same outcome may occur just like with the medication. Similarities include restlessness, anxiety, depression, increased heart rate, irritability and nausea. “It is widely believed that caffeine boosts attention in normal adults” (Collingwood). Also the foods that are being consumed have another huge role in the care of a child 's behavior. Some that harm and make symptoms worse and those that help and are beneficial for a child 's health in general. “The Mayo Clinic notes that certain foods, colorings, and preservatives may increase hyperactivity behavior in some children” (6 Natural Remedies for ADHD). Healthy supplements that will increase learning and capable abilities are as followed: zinc, L-carnitine, vitamin B6, and magnesium. “Diets that restrict possible allergens may help improve behavior in some children” (6 Natural Remedies for ADHD). So far caffeine and a diet designed for each child is considered a healthier and less cost effective than a harmful medication. Each child is very different, so doing the same thing for everyone is not going to be effective. Play with alternatives to match to each specific child. Just like any average child, time outside could also be a miracle worker. Running off held in energy throughout a school day will not only help them sleep better, but may also prepare them for a crazy school day. “Spending time outside may benefit your child with ADHD.
