Almost everyone knows the dangers of drinking and driving, and thousands of people died due to car crash every single day. One of the main leading causes of injuries and deaths is drunk while driving. Many people do not really care about the fact that drunk driving is very dangerous and may cause a serious fatality to death. However, a very well-known and luxurious car brand, BMW, creates an advertisement about “Don’t Drink and Drive” in 2009. This picture came out on google.com when I searched about “Drink and Drive” advertisement. The purpose of this advertisement is to make an awareness about the risk of drinking and driving, so people might want to think twice before driving under the influence. The left leg is the real one and the other one is the prosthetic leg. It uses pathos because it makes the reader to feel sorry for the person with the missing leg. The viewer might also become aware and seriously think about the negative consequences of getting into an accident, especially when it is being under the influence of alcohol. Many outcomes can occur when people are out of control on the road, they will drift the road, and will crash into an accident. BMW Company wants to show that human parts are not as appealing as the car parts, yet human-flesh is barely possible to be made. Therefore, the visual of this image allows the audience to be emotionally have a pity for people with disabilities and recognize the risk of drunk …show more content…
People might have already known that acting behind the wheel of a car has a very high-risk outcomes. Therefore, this advertisement make a use of logos, though it is less likely to be noticeable to the audience. Furthermore, the use of logos is also applied when the text tries to compare human limbs to car parts. As it states, “Spare parts for humans are not as original as those for cars. Don’t Drink and Drive.” This statement is simply logically implies that replacing a human body part is not as easy as replacing a car part. Besides replacing human parts will always be noticeable, yet the prosthetic limbs would not exactly the same as what it used to be; human body is irreplaceable. In this context, BMW really wants to present the reader about how valuable is our body-flesh in comparison with the prosthetic limbs by using a logically common sense
