Donna O Neeshuck Was Chased By Some Cows By Bill Grossman

Poetry, poetry, what boring and confusing words,
They say we have to learn and write it, how absurd.
It light of it all, learning it can be thrilling and fun,
Reading poetry now is second to none! I like the book Donna O’Neeshuck Was Chased By Some Cows by Bill Grossman. For me, it told a story that was colorful, funny, and used rhymes that made sense. It had a flow to it that students can enjoy and follow along as the story progresses. It also may incite the students to use their own imagination even if they couldn’t see the pictures because he used familiar things the most students are already exposed to such as animals, police, and surrounding plants. Another thing I liked about it was the use of words that might be new to a student, but

The readings in this class were quite interesting and made me view different situations from someone else’s perspective. With all the books and stories we were responsible for this class, I connected to three wonderful stories for two particular reasons. As a young doctor, and doctor in general, there will be times when you develop a strong attachment towards a patient that may affect you mentally or a patient comes in with symptoms that are not recognizable. When I become a doctor, I always worried how I would react under pressure and whether I would become too emotionally attached to my patient; that is why I connected to The Scalpel and the Silver Bear, From the Heart and My Own Country, short stories from the book A Life in Medicine. These…

This book describes the childhood of Abigail Adams and her challenges growing up in the eighteenth century. Although she was sickly as a child and colonial girls were not often well educated, Abigail’s mother taught her enough to make her one of the most learned first ladies. Since this book discusses Abigail Adams’s childhood, it provides a unique perspective into the background that shaped the person she became and the achievements she was able to accomplish. Many biographies describe the events that enabled prominent people to become famous without describing the background that helped them become renowned.…

    1. Dooby Dooby Moo by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin is an example of a picture book. The genre of this book is picture book because it uses basic vocabulary that is easily understood by young children and illustrated pictures and images to guide young readers through the story. The lively and highly expressive illustrations are able to create delightful personalities of the farm animals and farmer Brown and through these energetic illustrations one is able to infer the plot of the story. The story follows a group of farm animals that want to go to the County Fair as they heard that the grand prize would be a trampoline.…

Books, pencils, pens, paper, and homework are tools necessary to foster a child’s learning. However these tools only play a part in a child’s education. In order to truly succeed in school a child must also have the aptitude to understand the information given to them from a myriad of teachers. But, what about the students who don’t have the ability to grasp what they’re learning? Author Gerald Graff touches upon this topic; he observes that every student that has the opportunity to excel in their academics.…

My preferred hardback is Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain is teeming of commotion and peril as well as phyletic cultural and racial metamorphoses which unlocked my eyes to a whimsical world of hijinks plus adventure in which this lowly bored to death 12 year old boy who grew up in a single parent home amid three sisters in the early 80’s in the course of a worn out sweltering summer day in lonely old Enola, PA. I so delight in the mishaps of Huck Fin despite lacking a mother in addition to having a drunk for a father. However, Huck was fortunate to have Window Douglas who provided him with clothing, home, as well as an impending unforeseen friendship in spite of her overbearing sister Miss Watson. None the Less, Huck always finds…

Reading and Writing Outcomes A majority of the short stories read throughout English 101 were thought provoking even in the most obscure readings. Such stories include: Birdsong by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and A Rose for Emily by William Faulkner. Both of these short stories provide rich text, set-up for interpretation, debate, and concrete critical analysis. They helped move the class along in terms of fulfilling not only the desired writing outcomes but also the reading outcomes as well.…

Since my high school Creative Writing class will be an elective class that will consist of students in tenth through twelfth grade, I will need to find ways to bring student fun into the learning as much as possible. I have found that students love to eat and socialize, so I will include food, props, and games whenever possible. Difficulty will occur as the norm for class size at my school is thirty-two to thirty-six students, and not all students want to be in the classes where they are assigned. Since a text will not be available for the students, handouts and overhead projections of terminology and examples of writings will be needed. Keeping the class light and the learning fun and engaging at all times will be my goals.…

H-EY, Come on OU-T vs. Zoo Sience fiction stories are a great way to stretch out someone’s imagination and think outside the box. “Reading fiction not only develops our imagination and creativity, it gives us the skills to be alone. It gives us the ability to feel empathy for people we’ve never met, living lives we couldn’t possibly experience for ourselves, because the book puts us inside the characters skin.” (Ann Patchett). If you were to read a science fiction book, I would recommend HE-Y, Come on OU-T by Shinichi Hoshi, or Zoo by Edward D. Hoch.…

The book I chose to read this week is The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian. I was hooked from the beginning; finding it an interesting and entertaining read. Not knowing anything about it at the start, I was surprised by a number of elements. I knew it was going to be about a Native American, but I wasn’t expecting there to be any illustrations. They reminded me of a more mature version of the illustrations in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series; I liked Forney’s style even more so.…

As such saying that goes by, “Good from far, far from good.” Truth be told, this is in fact in unity with what is Poetry and the Visual Arts. Therefore, the two are something that you can value, you can feel within yourself and understand more than life itself even if you don 't have it at arm 's length. Poetry could have its many controversies and its meanings between being deep, life touching, mind consuming and realistic.…
