Often times, articles and advertisements that encourage people to donate always appear to be faulting people for have enough. Like Peter Singer stated in his article “The Singer Solution to World Poverty”: “In the world as it is now, I can see no escape from the conclusion that each one of us with wealth surplus to his or her essential needs should be giving most of it to help people suffering from poverty so dire as to be life-threatening. That 's right: I 'm saying that you shouldn 't buy that new car, take that cruise, redecorate the house or get that pricey new suit. These causes can be, but are not limited to discrimination, lack of power, corruption of government officials, war, environmental overload, and scarcity of resources. Unfortunately for most of the world, discrimination still exists and can cause biases when handing out food aid. In America’s case, lack of power and corruption of government officials are not a problem anymore, but environmental overload and scarce resources are still problems today (Hauptmann, Cole). As Americans, building houses on farmland for our expanding population and using more water than necessary.…
