Donald Trump's Use Of Dramatism In Politics

When Donald Trump entered the GOP race earlier this year people were absolutely star struck that he was running for the president of the free world. Many people for a long time did not think Trump could win, but look where we are now. Trump is actually on the verge of becoming the republican nominee and will presumably go up against Hillary Clinton in the general election. Trump has used his persuasion and sense of dramatism that has resonated with many Americans and that’s why many have hopped on the Trump bandwagon. Mark Cuban who is a billionaire businessman and owner of the Dallas Mavericks stated, "I don't care what his actual positions are,” Cuban went on to state, "I don't care if he says the wrong thing. American citizens are fed up with Washington politicians who say one thing and carry out another thing; this is of course example of dramatism. Again, dramatism is “a technique of analysis of language and thought as basically modes of action rather than as means of conveying information”(Griffin 293). Dramatism is the idea of having a message that people remember because of the work of the persuader; the persuader in this case is Donald Trump. Americans around the country believe politics in Washington is a broken system where their actions aren’t adding up and that’s why many are hopping to get Trump nominated. Another example, which represents dramatism, is the idea that, up until Trump announced his candidacy the conventional wisdom was that you had to be a professional politician in order to run. The norm was you had to be in politics whether you were a senator, governor or congressman or women. Evidently, Trump has totally shifted the paradigm forever. Luckily for the people of our country we no longer get the all talk no action dialogue that has infested are country for years.
