Attitudes and actions within society reflect the normalization of sexual assault and violence. Rape culture is present in the daily lives of all Americans, whether it be a young woman being cat called on the city streets or a tolerated joke about rape. Social codes are a vital part of this attitude. Men are taught to be dominant and their violence and aggression is condoned because it is considered their nature.
