Donald Trump's Net Worth Compared To Managerial Finance

Donald Trump captures his voters’ attention with his entertaining commentary and his promises of future prosperity for the country under his reign. A common argument I hear for Trump’s ability to improve the country (cringe), economically, is that he “knows how to run a business”. Trump’s a businessman after all, how could anyone argue that? But is he really that successful? Trump’s net worth is a highly debated topic and he has had several business ventures that have failed. Relating this to managerial accounting, I’m interested in learning how Trump values his net worth compared to how auditors value Trump’s brand. The issue in managerial accounting that comes into play is brand valuation, which we haven’t touched on yet in class. IF his

Everything today is branded, from the milk in your fridge to the car you drive. Each of these brands are things we trust, what we would regard as reputable. Why is that though? In the article, the Brand Called You Tom Peters describes this trust in brands as a belief in “promise of the value you’ll receive.” Similarly, Peters argues, “you’re every bit as much a brand as Nike, Coke, Pepsi, or the Body Shop.”…

    1) I am sick! The ways in which Mills outlines the tax evasion tricks of the rich make me question the morality of the legislation that make this possible. The numbers that Mills quotes in chapter 7, The Corporate Rich, are huge by today’s standards, but in the 1950s those figures were absurd. Maybe we all should have become accounts. Is it possible to join the corporate rich with a sociology degree?…

Analysis of Benjamin Franklin's The Way to Wealth Benjamin Franklin was born into rather mediocre circumstances, and his rise to wealth and fame constitutes a true American "rags to riches" storyline. And due to this clichéd American fascination with the concept of a true "self made man", his readers, many of them of meager means and poorer backgrounds, were able to relate to his writings on a personal level. In his original Poor Richards Almanac, published in 1732, he provides insightful advice and morally sound lessons intended to educate and entertain the audience for which it was intended. This audience was comprised of poor farmers, struggling craftsman, and frankly anyone wishing to make any means of a living or to get rich through their own business ventures. In his original preface to the main text of Poor Richards Almanac, entitled The Way to…

All named arguments together lead to the result, that Donald Trump does personally not represent the American dream. Nonetheless, his political goals partly show similarities to the American dream. First of all, Trump himself was basically a rich born, upper class child of a father, who had already made his own fortune in his real estate business. Most of Trump’s best business deals were either based on family ties or his father’s financial support.…

When controversy and doubt surround a brand it can ruin said brand and coming back from such a scandal takes hard work, dedication and the help of social media. In the situation of Mr. Bean, several issues need to be addressed to resume customer trust, stakeholders and employees trust as well as a corporate responsibility for the actions they have taken. Mr. Bean has admitted to the public that he has not upheld his advertisement of buying coffee beans from farmers, but instead has mixed in another source.…

During the early 1980s, Americans of all races, sexes, and social statuses subscribed to the notion that one could be successful through hard work and determination. In his dark comedy Glengarry Glen Ross, David Mamet exposes this to be, as stated previously, nothing more than a notion. In this two-act play, working class men, including young and cunning salesman, Ricky Roma, do business in a sales office under the supervision of meek office manager John Williamson. The salesmen are forced into a competition within the office where the top salesman receives a Cadillac, and the two lowest salesmen of the month lose their jobs. As could be expected, the men try desperately to sell their real estate using any means necessary to close a deal, often…

As young adults we are taught to develop skills and talents which with time will become our reputation. Building a leadership brand requires determination and innovation as well as an open mind. Just as brands evolve over centuries a person has to be able to be self-aware of its surrounding and how they change. In the article “Five steps to building your leadership brand”, Ulrich and Smallwood describe a leadership brand as conveying your identity and distinctiveness as a leader and communicating the value you offer (2007). In one way or another everyone has a personal leadership brand but the question is, do you have the right one?…

In her book, No Logo (2000), Naomi Klein sheds light on the opposing forces of corporate rule, and seeks to understand the conditions, whether cultural or economic, that mark the emergence of an inevitable political movement still in its early stages. She wants her audience to walk away at the end of the book, aware of the “cracks and fissures beneath [the brands’] high-gloss facade (Klein 18).” The opening chapter, “No Space,” educates the reader on how corporate brands came into existence, when they dominated the market and landscapes, and why they are ubiquitous. Klein also describes brands and logos as more than just images companies utilize to identify themselves with; they possess souls, manipulating consumers.…
