In the article "Donald Trump's Inaugural Address Was Great" by James Poulos, he claims that the speech was impressive. Poulos praises Trump for "delivering a greatest hits of American mottos." In this quote, he points out how Trump alluded to many past American influencers' quotes and policies, such as Tocqueville, Bill Clinton, and Franklin Roosevelt. Poulos claims that Trump's speech was greatly needed, calling it a "grim necessity" more than once.

In the article "Don’t Believe the Populism of Trump's Inaugural Address. Our President is a Plutocrat." by Ryan Cooper, he criticizes not just the speech, but also many things about Trump's campaign-turned-administration. He claims "The major theme of Trump's speech was the same fearsome and

Although I agree with points in both, I find myself agreeing with more in the article "Don’t Believe the Populism of Trump's Inaugural Address. Our President is a Plutocrat.". I agree with more in this article because it shows the harsh reality of things behind the speech, as well as things in the speech. Cooper says things in this article that need to be addressed, like his cabinet of wealthy and inadequate people who are known for their contributions to the republican party. I feel that in Trump's speech, he speaks as if an apocalypse is upon us, and he has the cure for it. I find his mannerisms a bit odd as the country today is more divided than it was all during the Obama administration. I do agree with some points in Trump's speech, such as the quote "Americans want great schools for their children, safe neighborhoods for their families, and good jobs for themselves. These are just reasonable demands of righteous people and a righteous public." I agree that everyone has a right to safety and happiness, but I do not agree with Trump's proposition to put "America first", as many countries are in situations way worse than America is. Just because a problem isn't affecting you, doesn’t mean it's not a

The former president of United States, John F. Kennedy, uses fear in his inaugural speech to appeal to pathos and outline the programs of future during his presidency. He appeals to the fearful emotions of the audience by admitting that although the forefathers in a capitalistic society “held the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life,” some people around the globe believes that the rights of man come from “generosity of the state,” which Kennedy is alluding to communism. Instead, he states that the rights come "from the hand of God" that each person get's what is deserved to him naturally, not by a gift from the state. Kennedy joins in this time the anger and dismay in order to suggest what the communist states…

Presidents Abraham Lincoln, Thomas Jefferson, Harry S. Truman, and Donald J. Trump were all addressing merely the same matter in the introduction of their inaugural addresses, However, Thomas Jefferson’s compelling speech possessed the most literary value. The importance of complexity of sentence structure cannot be stressed enough when writing a speech, especially one as important as an inaugural address. Thomas Jefferson not only acknowledged fellow American citizens for their support and respect in his election, but went above and beyond in his vocabulary choices in order to provoke the correct mood. For example, Jefferson used terms such as zeal, presentiments, and auspices, all of which add to the emphasis of the message being communicated.…

One of the greatest weapons a President has in their inaugural address is their use of antithesis. Trump is no exception. He explains when discussing the government “The establishment protected itself, but not the citizens of our country. Their victories have not been your victories; their triumphs have not been your triumphs.” His antithesis specifically criticizes the previous government.…

My fellow citizens: With every inauguration in this country we fortify the seedling of our country: the decrepit two centuries old constitution. All standing before me, we are American even though some weren't born upon American soil, but rather united on the belief that we choose to hold in an archive written centuries ago by the brilliant authors that came before us. Although these words may be documented on paper, they alone are worthless. It is our job in government to execute these duties- by the people, for the people. Since 1789 every American President who has given this address has had a common goal of economic prosperity; in conclusion, the time has come where we continue the pursuit of economic prosperity.…

Throughout the speeches of both Barack Obama and Donald Trump, both men shared their views and beliefs on specific topics. Likewise, the views of both men are very analogous when it comes to sharing goals. Despite utilizing diverse rhetorical strategies to give their speeches a meaning, both speeches accomplish similar results. For instance, both Obama and Trump wish for change and unity, but the concept of change is most addressed. Obama, more so, implies the concept of change as in the “people” and how they are able to establish change, “You were the change.…

Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States of America, he served two terms as a Democratic Republican from 1829-1837. The entire Jackson campaign not only started up revolutionary political election tactics such as rallies, parades, and lavish dinners that supporters paid for, but it also sparked up a whole new era of mass democracy, and gave birth to the political party that we now know as the “Democrats”. Mr. Jackson considered himself, a president for the people, with a strong personal stance on a capitalist democracy, he was a forceful leader not afraid to use his veto vote when he felt passionate about a certain issue. When it came to domestic policy Jackson was a very proud man, who some say let his personal views influence…
