In the article "Donald Trump's Inaugural Address Was Great" by James Poulos, he claims that the speech was impressive. Poulos praises Trump for "delivering a greatest hits of American mottos." In this quote, he points out how Trump alluded to many past American influencers' quotes and policies, such as Tocqueville, Bill Clinton, and Franklin Roosevelt. Poulos claims that Trump's speech was greatly needed, calling it a "grim necessity" more than once.

In the article "Don’t Believe the Populism of Trump's Inaugural Address. Our President is a Plutocrat." by Ryan Cooper, he criticizes not just the speech, but also many things about Trump's campaign-turned-administration. Although I agree with points in both, I find myself agreeing with more in the article "Don’t Believe the Populism of Trump's Inaugural Address. Our President is a Plutocrat.". I agree with more in this article because it shows the harsh reality of things behind the speech, as well as things in the speech. Cooper says things in this article that need to be addressed, like his cabinet of wealthy and inadequate people who are known for their contributions to the republican party. I feel that in Trump's speech, he speaks as if an apocalypse is upon us, and he has the cure for it. I find his mannerisms a bit odd as the country today is more divided than it was all during the Obama administration. I do agree with some points in Trump's speech, such as the quote "Americans want great schools for their children, safe neighborhoods for their families, and good jobs for themselves. These are just reasonable demands of righteous people and a righteous public." I agree that everyone has a right to safety and happiness, but I do not agree with Trump's proposition to put "America first", as many countries are in situations way worse than America is.
