It is difficult to find a modern day ruler who would be viewed as good leader by everyone. For example, the President of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte, who is viewed negatively by many western world leaders, was shown to of had an 87% approval rating at the end of his first 3 months in office (Charlotte England, The Guardian). There are very few past presidents who can be looked back upon as good leaders by everyone. When it comes to The United States this question becomes even more difficult to answer seeing as America is one of the most diverse countries in the world. Presidential candidates know this too, during the election they will often appeal to specific interest groups to build their base of supporters. One of the most significant groups that Trump built his campaign around was the white working class male vote. Usually these people vote democrat, but due to Trumps excessive campaigning in the rust belt and emphasis on bringing factory jobs back to America he was able to take these votes away from Clinton (“Why Trump Won: Working-Class Whites”, The New York Times) These working-class voters do think Trump will be a good leader along with everyone else who voted for him, while those who voted for Clinton do not have any faith in the Trump presidency. This is how elections have been in the past and every past president has faced this problem, but the thing that separates the good presidents from the bad presidents is their ability to unite the nation after such a divisive
