As humans, we have all lied at some point in our lives to get out of a conundrum, or just to get something we want. Lying here and there is safe you could say, but it is also important that you don’t take your lying out of hand. At one point you have to recognize that you are only hurting yourself, and more importantly the way other people see you as a person. It gets to a point when you reach an age where you have to act more mature and leave your childish ways behind, apparently, that is not the case with Mr. Donald Trump. As the president of this here nation, he needs to step up to the responsibility that his position grants upon him. He’s not a kid anymore if he keeps on lying how can we trust him? When I look at the question, “Why is it important that the government and the President tell the truth to the public”, I can give a simple answer because he is the president. I’m going to go beyond that simple answer, though. He is the leader of this nation, a somewhat functioning country. He needs to tell it how it is and not lie all the time. Like I said, when you lie it can hurt your reputation as a person, as of now since it is still early into Trump’s presidency, it's not really hurting him that much. What comes up …show more content…
He has instilled hate into them, by igniting their flame that is racism. Speech after speech, he ranted about how immigrants are bad people and how they are stealing their jobs, this only got them even angrier. He has them brainwashed into thinking that he will fight against these things, to put it this way Trump and racist white people have a commonplace, hate. Trump’s supporters are mesmerized at how he is some sort of a lord and savior that will help the people. But how, how can we trust an egotistical, lying SOB? He would have been a model if he is so into himself. I guess that Trump loves himself like Kanye loves

Would you be willingly to let the wrong candidate, who has been known to lie repeatedly, be the president for the next four years? In order for someone to be trusted, they need to have the core feature of being honest. If the principle of honor has been violated, the credibility of that person depreciates, essentially making it harder to gain that trust once more. This is where the Clinton campaign is having trouble during this year’s election. Hillary Clinton had plenty of opportunities to be honest, but many times it has been diluted.…

Many of us would very quickly and obviously say no and say lying is bad, but providing an example, what if President Obama learned of a forthcoming terrorist attack and there was nothing the citizens of the United States could do to stop it? If he told citizens of this attack that was going to happen, ceaseless chaos and panic would erupt from the people and cause absolutely no progress to occur. Well guess what? Our nations’ leaders deal with this very situation on a daily basis. What if a member of the press asked the president at a conference if there was going to be a terrorist attack on Friday and he knew there was going to be.…

Not to mention that they are in charge of running our country and taking care of us all. Presidents like Franklin Delano Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy have had some of the highest approval ratings in history. Some qualities that they had which made them so great and that I would expect of any person occupying the position of president are honesty, commitment, courage, and the ability to connect with the people. Most people will say that lying is never the answer, but they don’t always tell why. Lying often ends unethically, not only the can the lier be punished or feel guilty in the process, but it often goes further than anticipated. When looking back there seems to be more consequences on the result of the pretense than what the reward would have been if everything worked out and there was no lying. The Salem Witch Trials, the McCarthy Trials, and the McMartin Trials all proved that it is important to always be honest, regardless of the sacrifice.…

In “The Ways We Lie” by Stephanie Ericsson she discusses and breaks down the activity of lying into different kinds of lies. Ericsson goes into great detail of about 10 of them, but there are many more. Some lies are for your peace of mind and maybe still bad for both parties, and some are for the better of someone else’s feelings. Ericsson believes that even if you feel you are perfect, nobody is and still tell lies no matter big or small, we do it and at times are unaware that it is considered a lie. Individuals nowadays get to a point where they are lying and don’t know whether to believe themselves or others.…
