The most interesting detail I learned from the books is that a candidate being able to connect with voters is one of the most important things a candidate must do to win the presidency. It can be seen in the 1992 election as Clinton was able to connect with people and make them believe that change was possible. Bush in this election was unable to connect and so even though he was president when the Berlin Wall and the Soviet Union fell, he was unable to win the presidency. I believe this connects quite perfectly with the current election. Donald Trump was able to maybe not necessarily connect with voters, but he able to connect more than Hillary Clinton was able to.…

Celebrities can have significant influence in consumer choices because the general public recognizes them and, they have a target audience that is willing to buy their product. For instance, Channing Tatum featured in a commercial for Mountain Dew. This example corroborates that the company who made the commercial believes that they needed a celebrity with good looks, and an actor or actress who starred in action movies, to star in their advertisement. For these reasons, they pick Channing Tatum to be in the commercial. Another example is Apple Music choosing Taylor Swift to be in their commercial.…

Not only do media outlets portray celebrities to young people, but electronics play a part as well; music being the key factor. Music that a celebrity creates also influences a teen’s behavior. If one were to listen to an artist whose music is full of profanity and vulgar language, more than likely that teen will follow what that artist is promoting. For example, a lot of young girls today look up to the musician Nicki Minaj; some even think of her as the hip hop version of Lady Gaga, another well known teen idol. If the teens that look up to her as a role model were to hear one of her songs full of sexually explicit lyrics, then that young girl would think that its okay to do those acts because she wants to be just like her.…
