Ben Carson. Donald Trump went on a tiresome rant on Dr. Ben Carson during a speech he made in Iowa not long ago. In Mr. Trump’s speech, he compared Dr. Ben Carson’s past issue with violence (which Dr. Carson points out in his book as a pathological disease) to a child molester. He is quoted as saying, “If you are pathological, there is no cure for that, folks, If you’re a child molester, a sick puppy, you’re a child molester, there’s no cure for that.” He also mocked Dr. Carson’s claim that he would have stabbed someone with a knife as a teenager except for the fact that the blade was stopped by the other’s belt buckle. Mr. Trump stood in front of a crowd and stated that a belt buckle doesn’t stay in place it moves around, and it would have done the same thing with Dr. Carson’s blade years ago. Trump also teased Dr. Carson on his claim that after all of these things occurred, he reflected on what he had almost done, gave himself to the Lord, and his life changed forever. Trump is quoted as saying, “Give me a break, it doesn’t happen that way.” Mr. Trump personally attacked Dr. Carson on how he almost hit his mother is the head with a hammer when he was a teenager. “I don’t want somebody who went after his mother with a hammer.” Mr. Trump stated. All of these statements together have used the ad hominem fallacy to say that because Dr. Carson has or had all of these problems, he should not become
