Donald Trump Fallacy Analysis

Mr. Trump’s Fallacy Donald Trump during his presidential campaign has been attacking his competitors on a very personal level. Donald Trump has committed the fallacy of ad hominem when he claimed Carly Fiorina should not be president because of the fact that she is a woman and because of her past failed business endeavors, and when he attacked Dr. Ben Carson on the personal fact that he has been violent in the past as a reason for Dr. Carson not to be president. Carly Fiorina is a candidate for the republican presidential campaign. She is also the only woman running on the republican side. Donald Trump has used the personal fact, that she is a woman, against her. He is quoted as saying about Fiorina at one time, “Would anyone vote for that? …show more content…
Ben Carson. Donald Trump went on a tiresome rant on Dr. Ben Carson during a speech he made in Iowa not long ago. In Mr. Trump’s speech, he compared Dr. Ben Carson’s past issue with violence (which Dr. Carson points out in his book as a pathological disease) to a child molester. He is quoted as saying, “If you are pathological, there is no cure for that, folks, If you’re a child molester, a sick puppy, you’re a child molester, there’s no cure for that.” He also mocked Dr. Carson’s claim that he would have stabbed someone with a knife as a teenager except for the fact that the blade was stopped by the other’s belt buckle. Mr. Trump stood in front of a crowd and stated that a belt buckle doesn’t stay in place it moves around, and it would have done the same thing with Dr. Carson’s blade years ago. Trump also teased Dr. Carson on his claim that after all of these things occurred, he reflected on what he had almost done, gave himself to the Lord, and his life changed forever. Trump is quoted as saying, “Give me a break, it doesn’t happen that way.” Mr. Trump personally attacked Dr. Carson on how he almost hit his mother is the head with a hammer when he was a teenager. “I don’t want somebody who went after his mother with a hammer.” Mr. Trump stated. All of these statements together have used the ad hominem fallacy to say that because Dr. Carson has or had all of these problems, he should not become

John Oliver argues, "Donald Trump can seem appealing until you take a closer look." His first premise is Donald Trump doesn't really "tell it like it is." John Oliver uses statistical evidence from Politifact and anecdotal evidence from his own experiences. His second premise is the majority of Donald Trump's campaign funds are not out of pocket. Where Clinton depended on facts and personal testimonials, Trump had thrown in ad hominem fallacies and had avoided answering questioned posed towards him. For example, on the topic of abortion, Trump was asked if he would want the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v. Wade. Instead of answering the question, he had insisted that the issue would go back to the state level instead of establishing his position on the legality of abortion at the federal level. He had also deflected the question of immigration and his proposed legislation in establishing a wall by attacking Clinton and accusing her of voting for a wall as well. However, after fact checking this information, Trump’s definition of a wall was by any means, broad, seeing as how Clinton voted for legislation that created porous fences that allowed owners to access their land on both sides of the established…

Also, Democrats (not all of whom are "Liberals") tend to believe that all people should be treated with respect. In fact, they pretty much assume that's obvious.…

On September 21st, 2015, the presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson sparked a controversial reaction through the cable network, by stating discriminatory statements against American Muslims. Statements were televised directly to the viewers who immediately reacted to Dr. Carson’s discriminatory statements. In his interview broadcasted by CNN, he stated, “"I would not advocate that we put a Muslim in charge of this nation. I absolutely would not agree with that," (Lobianco) Later, during the same interview, when he was asked whether he considers Islam to be inconsistent with the US constitution or not, he replied negative to that. When analyzing Dr. Carson’s statement, one can clearly realize that his comments against having a Muslim president are in direct violation to the American constitution which states that no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.…

During the presidential debate that aired live on Monday night, Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were discussing how they would create jobs to increase the income of the American people. In a rebuttal to her opponent, Clinton states, “You know, Donald was very fortunate in his life, and that's all to his benefit. He started his business with $14 million, borrowed from his father, and he really believes that the more you help wealthy people, the better off we'll be and that everything will work out from there.” I believe that this is an example of Ad Hominem, as it is a personal attack against Donald Trump, although a subtle one at that. Not only does she address the bias and favor he has for the wealthy, but by including the fact that he started…
