Donald Trump and Immigration Donald Trump is truly a household name. If you know who Donald Trump is, then you also know how strongly he feels about immigrants. In my opinion, people don’t feel neutral towards Trump. They either despise him, or love him. For my sources I chose a scholarly article related to Trump and immigration, a biography on Trump, and Trump’s immigration reform from his website. In this paper I will address some of Trump’s business success, talk about how he feels about immigration, and why I disagree with him. He has offended people so much, that NBC completely cut off all business ties with him. Many other companies have followed in NBC’s tracks. Trump is very unapologetic for these comments. Trump claims that we should build a “Chinese wall” paid for by Mexico on the border and deport evert single immigrant without legal documentation. He also states that children born in the United States to illegal immigrant parents should not be granted citizenship. The scholarly article I cited reads “White southerners and their political leaders oppose immigration reform more than anyone else in the United States. Nearly half (46 percent) of all Americans who want to deny undocumented immigrants any means of citizenships are southerners, primarily white southerners.” Trump believes that Mexico is sending us all of their criminals, drugs, rapists, and he says he assumes some might be good people. Trump’s immigration reform reads that “a nation without borders is not a nation.” He says that Mexico’s leaders have been taking advantage of America by using immigration to get rid of their own crime and poverty. Our taxes have skyrocketed and jobs are becoming harder and harder to find. Crime rates keep going up, and some Mexican’s cross the border just to commit horrible crimes against Americans. People believe that Trump is spreading the truth, and his supporters are very enthusiastic at his rallies and on social media. I believe that people are so ignorant and uneducated when it comes to immigration, that they will believe whatever they hear about it. An example of Trump’s bad arguments is when he spoke on data from the U.S. Sentencing Commission which implies that a major portion of federal criminals are undocumented. Upon further investigation, it has been revealed that a vast majority of these criminals were arrested for entering America illegally, not for committing crimes inside of America like Trump
