With just over thirty days until election day in America, Donald Trump (R) has his work cut out for him. As Donald Trump and Hilary Clinton (D) approach election day, each of them need to strategize differently in order to succeed. Mr. Trump needs to secure the undecided voters and hold on to his locked in voters. A very hands-on approach to politics should be used by Mr. Trump in the next thirty days. Mr. Trump needs to be out on the campaign trail working for every last vote he can get. The media portrayed the first presidential debate on Monday, September 26th to be a ‘win’ by Hilary Clinton. However, Trump’s favorability rating has risen three percent in the three days following the debate (1). This proves that Trump’s minimalist approach …show more content…
Although just a five day time span, this lying has been a trend in Trump’s campaign. A problem plaguing Trump’s campaign is that sixty percent of voters view Trump as untrustworthy (6). For Trump, this means that sixty percent of voters have an excuse not to vote for him. In order to gain the trustworthiness of voters in the next thirty days, Trump and his team must fact-check. Fact-checking must go beyond the realm of formal debates, as well. Trump must be certain that he is speaking the truth to voters; as this will create a trusting relationship leading up until election day. To put this into perspective, fifty eight-percent of voters felt President Obama was trustworthy in 2012 …show more content…
Voters like knowing what they are getting themselves into (22). This is very difficult for a Donald Trump supporter. Donald Trump has vague plans that he has “explained” to his supporters. Nonetheless, Trump lacks specific, step-by-step formulas on how he is going to run America. Trump has explained, repeatedly, what he is going to do. Yet, he has not gone into detail as to how he will do it. For example, Trump has persisted that Mexico will pay for his wall at the border, even after Mexican president, Pena Nieto, has stated otherwise (23). Moreover, Trump has insisted he has a plan to fight ISIS, yet the plan is nowhere to be found (24). For Trump to successfully clench the title of President, he must begin thinking about, and eventually publishing, his specific plans for in

The general argument made by author Michael Finnegan in his work, Republican Party disruption in Trump’s Nevada victory”, is that Donald Trump persuades his audience with his speeches and the cruel words he uses to get voters to vote for him in order to become President of the United States. More specifically, Finnegan argues that Trump has the necessary power to become the ruler of the United States. He writes quotes Trump when he stated, “We might not even need the two months, folks, to be honest.” This line reveal the confidence that Trump has for himself for winning the elections and Finnegan agrees with him when he stated “Trump might be right.”…

It has now been one year during Trump’s time in presidency, and it would seem as though that his administration has yet to hit any of the big milestones that promised during their campaign. While they did gain some small victories in the past, it does not seem as though they would it big as of now. Even so, they still face nonstop backlash towards their approach to our government’s lawmaking and policymaking ideals. And yet, they will still continue to move forward, and stay on the same agenda, to which is the path of a businessman whom seeks out for a wealthy and stronger America. In fact, this is quite similar to what our previous president, known as Richard Reagan, had in mind as well.…

Frequently, Trump personally attacks fellow candidates on issues that are completely irrelevant to the debate, such as Marco Rubio’s height. Consequently, Trump’s antics and his opponents’ reactions make the Republican debates memorable, reducing the amount of time and media coverage that could have been used to discuss serious issues plaguing our nation, such as poverty and gender inequality. The political debates are platforms in which citizens can decide which candidate’s policies they prefer, however, people derive entertainment from them, shown by how people make jokes about the debates such as #Trumpface, comparing Trump’s facial expressions to emojis, which trended on Twitter, rather than information pertaining to the stances presented. Aforementioned, Trump received more coverage, especially evening news weighing in with 54 percent of the coverage from ABC, NBC, and FOX, than any other candidate. The lack of reportage of the alternative contenders mostly affects the majority of younger voters who are Democratic or independent.…

I remember when Donald Trump first announced his political run for office. He built his campaign on the slogan: We’re going to Make America Great Again, “reinforced” by his bold claim of “building a wall”. When Trump got down into the weeds with Megyn Kelly during the first Fox News Republican debate, I sensed Donald Trump was a proud and arrogant man. I went on my own campaign against him; making phone calls, writing emails, calling news agencies and talk shows, posting madly to Facebook — whatever I could do to try to stop a really bad person from wrecking the Republican Party and damaging the nation. NeverTrump was my obsession, but it was, at that time, merely political for me.…

Under the veneer of praising Donald Trump in the title of her essay – “The rhetorical brilliance of Trump the demagogue” (Mercieca, 2015), Jennifer Mercieca explores Trump’s rhetorical strategy to rally the American public into supporting him in spite of his offensive rhetoric. Using Donald Trump’s December 7 Statement on Preventing Muslim Immigration (Trump, 2015) as an example, Mercieca puts forth this essay to explain Trump’s “profound and persistent appeal” (Mercieca, 2015) through demagoguery in his speeches. Mercieca's primary exposition on how Trump’s ideas are framed and entrenched through rhetorical devices has led to his ability to successful craft a political narrative which positions himself as a hero saving “a nation in crisis”…

But one may ask “How do you expect to get every single illegal to go back to their home country?” His only response to this could be is to build the 10-foot wall. Johnson said “A 10-foot wall just requires an 11-foot ladder.” this does say a lot because people will do anything to be in the United States. Trump wants people to come into our country, he wants to bring people in but all he wants is to be able to do it legally.…

Trump markets himself as a businessman and not a politician; in his campaign announcement speech Trumps keeps referring to himself as the “right guy,” the guy who is going to make America great again. Trumps wants to instill and, more importantly, bring out the skepticism in the public; he claims that America has been brought to near ruin because of the incompetence of America’s current leaders. He attacks and belittles politicians as seen in his speech when, after discussing America’s debt to China,”How stupid are our leaders? How stupid are these politicians to allow this to happen?”(Trump, Donald. “Our Country Needs a Truly Great Leader”Trump Tower, New York City.…

Lisa McGirr’s book Suburban Warriors: The origins of the New American Right, published in 2001, examines the history of the conservative grassroots movement in Orange County, California during the 1960s and 1970s. With a “bottom up” lens, McGirr focused on ordinary people behind the grass-roots conservatism rather than the intellectual and political leaders. Historian Richard Hofstadter believed right-wing activists acted purely on their “psychological distress” rather than being motivated by a set of beliefs or “rational politics” (7). In response, McGirr argues that the ordinary people who created conservative grassroots were usually already involved with modernity. Many of them were mobile migrants who welcomed entrepreneurialism and already…

The behaviors of Clinton, Trump, and the voters have all been influenced by stimuli, and the candidates are well-aware that their statements act as additional stimuli to voters, so they have to make certain that their statements are vastly supported in order to obtain the majority of votes when it comes time for the general election. The voters recognize that America has been heavily impacted by phobia-ridden sentiment recently due to terrorist attacks by ISIS who claim to be acting in the name of Islam. These Americans have learned to fear all Muslims due to extensive media coverage that focuses on terrorism. In the minds of some of these voters, the massive amount of coverage attributed to terrorism has led them to believe that all Muslims…

Trump wants to see this country go back to the prosperous country it once was, but he does not know how to filter his words according to most, which makes him seem frightening. Despite Clinton’s accusation about the risk of Donald Trump, his clever use of scare tactics gives voters a sense of security because of his ideas concerning immigration and terrorism. According to Molly Ball, author of “Donald Trump and the Politics of Fear,” Donald Trump uses fear to his advantage in hopes of winning the presidential election.…

When a country has felt great strain in the past, political change has always been the route that the people have elected to take. Throughout the twentieth century, and into the twenty first century, movements from both ends of the political spectrum have spread all over the world. From the left came the socialist and extreme communist movements, and from the right came the industrialist and extreme fascist movements. With the 2016 presidential election being held in the United States, this pattern has been seen again. In many ways the counterpart for the “Political Revolution” offered by Bernie Sanders is offered by the likely GOP nominee, Donald Trump.…
