Donald Slayton had developed a love for curiosity and exploring at a very young age. The National Aviation Hall of Fame states that when Donald was a young child, he would always explore the world around him; so much that his mother tied him to a clothesline to keep him from exploring too much. But his love for exploring never stopped there. When Donald was in high school, his love for flying sparked. And since then on, he was known for his love of flying. His motto, "Keep 'em flying" was even posted in his high school yearbook. Since then, Donald had continued to "kindle" his love for flying. He joined the Army Air Corps in 1942. Donald has faced a couple setbacks in his life. But he never let them cease him from achieving his goals. Donald Slayton had lost his ring finger, had an abnormal heart beat, went through a divorce. But he centered his life on his goals and never strayed away from them. "Decide what you want to do and never give up until you've done it." – Donald Slayton. Donald and I are both very curious. From a very young age, I loved exploring the world around me. I also loved to set goals for myself. To this day, I love exploring and setting goals for myself. There may be set backs in my life that may make me want to quit but I am just going to keep on trying until I reach my goal and achieve it. Even now, I face setbacks, but when I feel like quitting, I think about Donald Slayton; he lost a finger and had an abnormal heart beat but he still kept on trying until he met his goal. Life is never a smooth road, and never will be. But with hard work, persistence, determination, and a good mindset, anything is possible. No one knows what our futures may hold. "You're on your way, Jose" – Donald
