History has shown us the problems that arise when countries try to wall eachother or parts of themselves off. One can recall the Berlin wall separating East and West Germany or the seemingly ever lasting conflict around Israel. Typically, walls like these only add to or create hostility between the two groups on either side of the structure, not decrease it. This wall that Trumps wants to make, especially one built upon the accusations that he has made against the citizens of mexico, could create great amounts political tension between the United States and Mexico, and lead to the same hostility that many country dividing walls have in the past. Should this tension grow enough, the Government of Mexico could cease relations with the U.S over the construction of the wall. Very few immigrants actually sneak in over the border, and as of late, immigration from Mexico has actually slowed down thanks to their improving economy and slowing population growth. Immigrants from Mexico are really some of the least of the U.S’s worries as of late. Trump has also said that he wants to build the wall in order to stop the flow of drugs into the United States. This idea that the wall would even slow the flow of drugs coming in and out of the U.S. is incredibly hopeful. A vast majority drugs in the U.S are either made there, or come other countries than Mexico. Plus, if people are desperate enough, they will find a way to get their drugs into the U.S. one way or another. If this wall were to be constructed, it would be in vain as it would stop nothing that it is trying to keep
