Don Trump's Idea To Build The Berlin Wall Analysis

Improved Essays
Donald trump’s idea to build a wall along the Mexico border is a pointless task that is flawed in nearly every aspect. The cost to build such a wall is ludicrous, with $15 billion dollars standing as a low estimation of cost, and the price tag only increasing with the inclusion of patrols, maintenance, and wiring. The political impact would be devastating as well, and people can look to the past for evidence of that. The best part of all though is that nothing would change if it were constructed. Trump’s idea of this wall is so humongously flawed, that if it was somehow constructed it would do far more harm to the country than good. Let's start with the cost. $15 billion is the lowest estimation that researchers have come up with. The highest …show more content…
History has shown us the problems that arise when countries try to wall eachother or parts of themselves off. One can recall the Berlin wall separating East and West Germany or the seemingly ever lasting conflict around Israel. Typically, walls like these only add to or create hostility between the two groups on either side of the structure, not decrease it. This wall that Trumps wants to make, especially one built upon the accusations that he has made against the citizens of mexico, could create great amounts political tension between the United States and Mexico, and lead to the same hostility that many country dividing walls have in the past. Should this tension grow enough, the Government of Mexico could cease relations with the U.S over the construction of the wall. This could mean multiple things, such as Mexico refusing to help the U.S with any situation such as an economic crisis or war, the U.S government no longer being able to conduct any trade with or retrieve any shipments from other countries through Mexico, lose all territory ,such as military bases, it has, and even Mexico closing its border to those with an American passport, and much more. It could also hurt the U.S’s relations with other nations beyond Mexico as time goes on leading to further problems. If this wall were to be constructed the U.S could end up losing one of its closest allies, and hurting itself far more than …show more content…
The truth is that "[I]t's estimated that between 27 and 40 percent of all undocumented immigrants came here on planes." (Adam Ruins Immigration). This means that the immigrants originally came here legally, and the only reason they’re now here illegally is because they’ve accidentally overstayed their visas. Very few immigrants actually sneak in over the border, and as of late, immigration from Mexico has actually slowed down thanks to their improving economy and slowing population growth. Immigrants from Mexico are really some of the least of the U.S’s worries as of late. Trump has also said that he wants to build the wall in order to stop the flow of drugs into the United States. This idea that the wall would even slow the flow of drugs coming in and out of the U.S. is incredibly hopeful. A vast majority drugs in the U.S are either made there, or come other countries than Mexico. Plus, if people are desperate enough, they will find a way to get their drugs into the U.S. one way or another. If this wall were to be constructed, it would be in vain as it would stop nothing that it is trying to keep

A second option is to strengthen border control by tripling the number of Border Patrol agents, constructing impassable barriers at major cross points along the U.S.-Mexican border, and swiftly deporting foreigners who overstay their visas. The idea behind this is that America has given so much already and that we as a country have the right to perceive the American culture we have built. The advocates claim that reducing immigration will allow the United States to hold down spending for education, health care, and other social services. They also claim it will open up U.S. labor markets by making more jobs available for American workers. The arguments against the second option of building a wall is that fencing off our neighbors to the south and restricting immigration from abroad will fuel anti-American sentiment.…

The wall will also affect their trade that they have with each other for multiple reasons, one huge reason is that they will be mad at each other and Mexico would not want to give anything to the U.S because of what trump declared(he stated that Mexico would have to pay for the wall but Mexico refused to pay anything at all) and that probably made them mad enough to lose their alliance. There are many other things that the border wall will affect other than the…

In an interview, Donald John Trump, an American businessperson and a Republican candidate running for president, specified: “ The immigrants are bringing drugs, they’re bringing crime, and they’re rapists. It’s coming from Mexico. It’s coming from the south and Latin America and it’s coming, probably, from the Middle East, but we don’t know because we have no protection.” As a result of the immigrants coming into America, Trump wants to create the immigration plan. If Trump’s plan is carried out, the Mexicans would be unauthorized to enter America because of the “great great wall,” possible recessions and riots would take place, and all illegal immigrants including the birthright citizens will be forced to leave America.…

All throughout Trump’s campaign that was one problem he wanted to be fixed and has started trying to fix it, not well though. One of Trump’s main solutions for the Mexican immigrants coming in is a wall bordering the America-Mexico border so that illegal immigrants can not make it through the border. The problem for this wall is the funding for it. ” The Trump administration’s proposed budget will include a 14 percent cut in Coast Guard funding to help pay for a crackdown on illegal immigration” (Trump Budget). When the article says “crackdown on illegal immigration” it is talking about the immigration on the Mexico border.…

One reason why a wall should be built, is because jobs are being taken away. Immigrants who come to the U.S, illegally, end up getting a job when they are not supposed to. They have no documents so they can not be hired. If an illegal immigrant does get hired, the person who hired them can receive criminal penalties. They can lose their business license and may have to pay fines.…

This statement has further brought controversies over immigration because he told his supporters that ‘Mexican will pay’ for the walls. However, pointing Mexico to pay for the border wall is not realistic. According to the article, Debunking Trump’s five extreme statements about immigrants and Mexico, by Dolia Estevez, there is already a wall on the border, which has been irrelevant and Mexico is no threat to the US economy. The research also shows that maintaining the walls after the construction will exceed the price of building the walls. Thereby, building the walls will not help in economically and in foreign relationships.…

Illegal Immigration has become one of the largest impact in America during the 20th and 21st Century. Many people believed that a border wall with the country Mexico would help to solve this problem. In 2014, it was estimated that there were about 11 million illegal immigrants in America. Of those 80% of them came from Central America, Mexico, and Asia, the largest amount coming from Mexico with 60% of all illegal immigrants. Building a border wall to keep out illegal immigrants won't just cost billions of dollars, it would create a less diverse community, make America’s economy weak, and it would harm the environment.…
