The issue of plastic pollution also negatively effects our ocean life, producing diseases and defects in fish and other creatures living in the ocean. These plastic polymers that are ingested by animals are so small that they are almost impossible to see and clean up. These plastic polymers and the chemicals that come with them cause irreversible damage to our oceans and make it an unrealistic option to dispose of the tons of litter. TOXIC: Garbage Island is able to document the seriousness of plastic pollution through the negative effects of it on our oceans and ocean life, and the shocking facts that these effects caused irreversible…

Society nowadays face many problems as a whole, as well as problems individually in different neighborhoods. In the surrounding area of Woodside, Queens there are many issues in which should be fixed in order to provide a happier living environment for its residents. People toss litter around like a game of basketball, except there’s no hoop around to aim it in (simile and irony)! Although it is a personal choice to litter and be impatient to locate a trashcan, lack of trash bins for disposable waste is a major issue. Let’s say you go out for a walk with a bag of chips.…

Littering is illegal and penalties vary from state to state, because it causes great harm to the environment. On May 11th, 2012, an ad created by the Surfrider Foundation depicts why littering is dangerous and unhealthy for the oceans, and also for humans. The ad contains an image of sushi wrapped in a plastic brown bag embedded with more plastic, rather than seaweed and fish. A pair of chopsticks lie beside the sushi as if someone were preparing to ingest it. In blue, capitalized, and printed largely on the ad, it states, “What goes in the ocean goes in you” (Surfrider).…

The way we neglect our ocean with heavy amounts of pollution can potentially affect our lives in a negative manner. Driving cars and the use of plastic is essential to our daily lives, but we use them without the concern for how they are affecting the habitats on Earth. Some people think that the chance that they are doing harm to the ocean is less important to them than cost or inconvenience of fixing a pollution problem. Through sources from researchers and scientists, they have found evidence of pollution caused by the two essential commodities in our lives, plastic and burning fossil fuels. Environmentalists have found solutions to reduce the plastic waste in our ocean as well as attempting to reduce carbon dioxide emissions in the atmosphere…

Trash is a problem in our modern society, admit we cant hardly get rid of it , and now we can fix a big part of this problem by just composting in our school. Composting is the more reasonable thing to do, mostly because throwing all of our trash in one place is wrong. Schools don't want to compost because they think its to much trouble, and not many people want to do that type of work. On the other hand people are saying that land fills are getting at capacity with trash from the neighboring schools. My opinion is that people need to stop being so unproductive and just get it over with.…

Littering is what pollutes the earth. Fast food wrappers and cigarette butts are the most commonly littered items and 50% of the time the litterer doesn’t even realize he/ she is doing it (EPA, 2016). By throwing the trash in a garbage and bottle and cans in the recycle bin instead of out the window, the amount of pollution that is affecting our water sources and wildlife will decrease. This will also save time and money spent on trying to clean the litter up.…
