When I read this text, I felt sorrowful towards Billie. I felt this way due to the manner her classmates treated her. It wasn’t fair because she was different compared to other girls, that she was bullied and discouraged to follow her dream. This is shown throughout the text when everyone at Billie’s school assumed that she was a tough and expressionless girl. They believed that they could state awful things to Billie, and she would take the comments and not be affected by them, but eventually, those comments had an impact on her and she burst out crying. These girls needed to get to know Billie about the person she was and realizes the reasons she held in all her emotions. They expected to realize that there was more to Billie than her physical appearance, that within herself, she was an entirely unexpected individual. This shows us that even the toughest looking people are hurt by the awful things that are said to them and all of that emotion developing within will eventually burst out. I believe it is significant to be able to acknowledge someone. You need to be able to relate and understand what affects them
