I remember when my football coach showed me Don't Blink for the first time around 10-11 years old. At the time I was thinking it was a good song, but as the years start passing by the song started hitting me in personal ways. Life flashes right in front of you and it's like you don't even realize it until everything is gone. Life shouldn't be taken for granted, and should be fulfilled with everything you have ever wanted. When I turned 16 one of my best friends for 10 years passed away. My friend and I used to wait until we got out of school to meet at either of our houses. My best friend for 10 years. Just as we were thinking we had life figured out she got in a car crash. Kenney Chesney says, “next thing you know your best friend of 20 years is laying in the bed and you're praying God takes you instead.” Scary hearing this in a song, but you never really understand until you have the same situation as you. She was my best friend for ten years. I met her when I was six years old and just thought she was the funniest and sweetest girl. I didn’t understand why God would allow her to be taken when she had so much to live for. In the beginning of this time I was selfish and was upset that God took such an angel, but then I realized how fast life can get taken away from you. So, after a couple weeks of being selfish I started living life to the fullest as she would’ve. I don’t know if God decided that to be a wakeup call to me, but it sure did set a fire under me and I decided to change many things I did. Every time I hear this song by Kenney Chesney it lights a little spark in my heart and I remember my best friend and who I’m living for just when I start to question
