The human brain is able to instinctively collect and recall information in a very particular way, however, some troubles seem to lie in how well the brain mismanages this information. In “Your Brain Lies to You,” Authors Dr. Samuel Wang and Dr. Sandra Aamodt, both established neuroscientists, use their knowledge to explain the specific ways the human brain stores memories and data. However, they also present their conclusion on how the brain can also mislead us to blindly believe information that could potentially hold no merit, without a second thought or inference. Wang and Aamodt claim that this is a result of source amnesia, a phenomenon where the human brain will subconsciously disconnect facts from their original source, making the credibility…

As a monotheistic religion, followers of Catholicism are expected to promote peace, generosity, and forgiveness, all of which fall under the teachings of the sacred Jesus Christ in order to become closer to God. Nonetheless, with the power of freedom bestowed upon citizens of the United States, crime and evil often infiltrate…

The poem “I’m a Fool to Love You” by Cornelius Eady meant quite a lot to me. It made me realize that in my future love life, I can possibly come upon a toxic relationship. And it will be my duty to realize what kind of relationship it is and to get out of it before this toxic relationship causes hurt not just to myself but to others as well. I really liked this poem because it tells women that if they let this toxic relationship grow and make a family out of it, it can and will affect the people part of that relationship. For example, Mr.Eady shows how the outcome of his mother’s relationship affected him by stating the following, “ You look in a mirror at your young face, The face my sister carries, And you know it’s the only leverage You’ve…

The Tale of Pearl-harvest demonstrates the cultural aspect of love at first sight. This is proven when Abu al-Hasan is telling his story and says “But when she asked the price of one particular bracelet, her voice was as sweet as a babbling spring and I looked up without a thought - and instantly drowned in the standing water of her eyes. My poor soul clung to the long curling black rushes that fringed each pool, but could not swim against the current of love, and it drew me down into the black vortex at the centre of her brown eyes.” (42). The four songs, “Another,” “Retrospect for Life,” “Gold Digger,” and “Booty,” have some overlap as far as ideas and content, as well as how women are portrayed in hip hop. Biggie used derogatory words when referring to women, while the other songs do not do that so much. While, Erykah Badu is pretty much making fun of the other woman in ther song, she does not use terms like bitch or hooker to describe her.…
