The foils of Don Pedro and Don John illuminate this meaning because Don Pedro doesn’t do any digging or searching to find the source of everyone’s issues even though he is one of the characters that suspects his illegitimate brother Don John as the cause. Don John is somewhat the opposite of this because throughout the whole play he has one goal which was to ruin Claudio and Hero’s wedding and he succeeds(and of course fails at the end). Even though Don John is evil, he puts forth more effort than Don Pedro for what he wants. In conclusion, he machiavellian traits of Don John create drama through the play, while Don Pedro’s loyal actions change the course of events.…

Shakespeare stated “And tell fair Hero I am Claudio. And in her bosom I’ll unclasp my heart” (11, Don Pedro told this when Claudio didn't have the courage to ask to marry Hero). Don Pedro is telling Claudio that he will help him make Hero fall in love with Claudio. It shows how Don Pedro is helping people unlike Don John who wants to cause ruckus. On the other hand Don John said “ I came hither to tell you; and circumstances shortened fo she has been too long a talking of the lady is disloyal”(Shakespeare 49).…

On the book Much Ado About Nothing by William Shakespeare is an excellent play and comedy. I am excellent to talk about trickery and deceit in the story. Trickery was used to generate Beatrice and Benedick to fall in love with one another and making them think that they have feelings for each other, Hero and her family lied to Claudio that she has died, and also that Leonato explained to Claudio think that he was gonna marry Beatrice because of what he did to Leonato’s daughter Hero. Deception is used in the story by Don Pedro plans to woo Lady Hero on Claudio’s behalf, disguising himself with a mask at the masquerade later on. Throughout the play, Don John is very candid about his yearning to ruin Claudio. In fact, while talking to Borachio about his plan to ruin Claudio’s marriage, Don John bluntly asserts, “If I can cross him any way, I bless myself every way” (I.iii.65-66). Shakespeare makes Don John’s intentions transparent in order to emphasize the pure wickedness of Don John’s desires to ruin Claudio’s life– he will go to any measure to achieve his goals, regardless of the consequences. Don John also neglects the possible effects on other people's reputations through his acts of deception. He assures Claudio that Hero is unfaithful, “I came hither to tell you;... she has been too long a-talking of, the lady is disloyal” (III.ii.95-97).…

The play, Much Ado About Nothing, by William Shakespeare is a romantic comedy set in Messina that focuses on two relationships throughout the play, Beatrice and Benedick and Claudio and Hero. Beatrice and Benedick are constantly arguing because of how similar their personalities are. They have a strong relationship because of how well they know each other. Claudio and Hero have a ‘fairytale’ kind of love because they do not know each other very well and do not argue until the day of their wedding. Benedick and Beatrice represent a realistic relationship where, Claudio and Hero represent a much simpler one.…

Hero and Claudio were once the ideal couple, however their purity is wrecked by a web of deceit built by Don John to punish Claudio for defeating him at war. Don John enlists his partner Conrade to assist him in this master plan to ruin Claudio and Don Pedro, Hero being the collateral damage of the horrible event; beginning with the masquerade ball and causing trouble between Don Pedro and Claudio, Don John brings it all to ruin when he sets the scene of Hero in bed with another man one night and leads Don Pedro and Claudio to see Hero being unfaithful. Although Hero was not unfaithful to Claudio, deceit is just as strong as an action because Claudio denies Hero’s hand in marriage and destroys her reputation putting her into a fake death constructed by the Friar and Leonato. The perfectly harmonious relationship is dramatically destroyed by Don John’s brotherly rivalry. Benedick and Beatrice end their relationship in a less public way, however their relationship ends all the same.…
