Don John is not very talkative and socially active as compared to many of the other character. Don John is persistently avoided by most of the characters in the play and often debared from many conversations and activities. When he arrives at Signior Leonato’s home in Messina with his brother, the Signior addresses him after he’s spoken to everyone else and even then with substantial hesitation: “If you swear, my lord, you shall not be forsworn” (I,I,150). Leonato questions Don John’s loyalty to Don Pedro, and even though he does his best the conceal his doubts, they remain transparent through his kind words. Don John takes notice of Leonato’s distrust in him and replies, “I thank you. I am not of many words, but I thank you.” (I,I,154). Don
