A series of robberies in the LA area has resulted in murder when a doctor is killed. The thieves apparently know exactly what to take, including a pair of rare, expensive lamps. Marshall proves the theory has something wrong with it and Charlie realizes he hasn't done much work within his field since he started helping Don. While he doesn't' think his work for the FBI is completely wasted, he feels like he needs to do something in his field of study, his speciality.
The data mining reveals two connections for the victims of the robberies, they all have expensive items that have been insured and they were all tracked using their cell phones. Charlie and Larry figure they were tracking them through the GPS systems in the phones, but the other connection is still unanswered until Marshall mentions the work he is doing in set theory. He shows Charlie his idea concerning deep current sets which lead Charlie to look deeper at the similarities. A Sniffer is an electronic device that detects specific calls the send that signal to a phone the robbers must have had. Charlie thinks that Quilty's phone can do that. All he needed was cell towers because he worked at a wireless company, he had that. They gear he needed, he could buy at any electronic company. So, Manor gave Quilty numbers of people who had expensive things. Then, Quilty had his Sniffer search for those numbers, when the sniffers came in the locations went to the phone he gave the robbers.
