The history of domestic violence goes back to 1960’s and 70’s. The first movement against it was battered women’s movement. Erin Pizzey opened the first battered women's shelter in chiswick, england. There are multiple type of abuse. For example, physical violence, sexual violence,dating violence, stalking, psychological violence. The National Violence Against Women Survey (NVAWS) proves that 1 in every 4 women will experience domestic violence somehow in their lifetime. Reports shows that females are the majority of family violence victims, spousal abuse victims, and dating violence victims between ages of 20 and 24.
