Domestic violence is defined as the control or power over someone else. It is a form of bullying that particularly happens in relationships. Although it can happen to anyone, women are usually the most likely to become victim to this type of abuse. Domestic violence can be a single incident or a chain of recurring incidents but the simple fact is that its is purposefully meant to harm another individual. The abusers often use guilt, fear, shame, isolation, terrorization, humiliation, and intimidation to lower the self esteem of the receiver. The abuse could happen to anyone from any ethnic background, religion, orientation, gender, economic standing point, or age range. The are various types of domestic abuse though. The most common form is physical abuse which includes physically hurting someone by either grabbing, pinching, biting, shoving, slapping, hitting another person or partner with the purpose of intentionally harming the other person.
