Domestic Violence
Domestic violence is defined as the control or power over someone else. It is a form of bullying that particularly happens in relationships. Although it can happen to anyone, women are usually the most likely to become victim to this type of abuse. Domestic violence can be a single incident or a chain of recurring incidents but the simple fact is that its is purposefully meant to harm another individual. The abusers often use guilt, fear, shame, isolation, terrorization, humiliation, and intimidation to lower the self esteem of the receiver. The abuse could happen to anyone from any ethnic background, religion, orientation, gender, economic standing point, or age range. The are various types of domestic abuse though. The most common form is physical abuse which includes physically hurting someone by either grabbing, pinching, biting, shoving, slapping, hitting another person or partner with the purpose of intentionally harming the other person. The next type of abuse is sexual abuse which falls in the category of physical abuse, but the fact that its so significant that it stands out from the rest. Words can hurt anyone without lifting even the slightest finger. This is emotional abuse. There many methods of emotional abuse which could be mental, verbal, psychological, economical etc. The point about emotional abuse is that it is more deadly than physical because it can get in the hearts and minds of the victims. With that being said, let’s break it down. Emotional abuse can involve name- calling, constant criticism, etc. Economic abuse deals with unnecessarily restraining one’s financial resources, withholding their access to money, or even forbidding their attendance of a job or school which can really bring a person
