(NCADV, 2016) Like men, females are also capable of domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault, rape and inflicting harm on to another person. In this essay, I will discuss four different scenario’s in which females are the perpetrators in domestic violence cases. These situations include; female nanny/babysitter abusing a child, lesbian relationships where two women are involved but one carries out the abuse, a wife/girlfriend abusing their husband/boyfriend and when a female adult pedophile sexually abuses a child. The first scenario I will discuss will be when a nanny or babysitter abuses a child. There have been several cases in the media lately that talk about couples who install nanny cams due to suspension of child abuse while their children are left in the hands of a trusted adult. This reaction is due to gender roles placed on us by society. Society expects men to be vigorous, in control and authoritive. If a man is abused, society may see that man as weak, shameful and powerless. No man wants to have his manhood disrespected. This is why men who are victims of domestic violence do not report their female abusers to law enforcement.
