Domestic violence and sexual assault has been an issue in most relationships either same-sex or opposite sex and most of the time the victim does not report the case to the police or any other authorities due to fear of retaliation, stigma, cultural beliefs, economic dependency and also privacy of the family. Statistics shows that, “In western countries it is estimated that about 25% of women experience intimate partner violence over their lifetime” (2004, Gracia). According to the department of justice, “domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner” on the other hand, the department also classifies sexual assault as, “Sexual

“While the rate of domestic violence incidents in the U.S in the U.S. has dropped significantly in the past two decades, the problem is still widespread: one in four women, and one in seven men, have experienced intimate physical violence in their lifetimes” (2015, Kelly).
Over the years, there has been news and rumors on domestic violence within N.F.L players and other professional athletes and as a result, the anti-domestic violence coalition “No More” partnered with the N.F.L in addressing this issue by organizing a 30 seconds ad campaign which aired live on Super Bowl XLIX during the break and other television stations across the country in order to share more light on the severity of the problem.
Further more, some of the objectives of the organization is for the audience to “say it” by breaking the silence and speaking up, “share it” by helping in raising the awareness about domestic violence and sexual assault and finally to also, “show it” by buying and wearing the “No More” gears to support the work and also by volunteering. These clear objectives are believed to make a meaningful impact in terms of addressing the public health issue. Public education is one of the keys needed to break this silence and also to reduce the magnitude of the problem. In terms of the success and failure of the campaign, it actually gets the audience attention and it guides them through the safest way of reporting such actions. If the ad continues to air of play on the radio, I strongly believe that, it will help reduce the rate of domestic violence and sexual assault. The more viewers get familiar to the ad the more they become aware and also share the information provided at the end of the ad to relatives and friends. Unfortunately, the ad was only aired during the super-bowl break and after a few television stations also aired it. I have also learned that, there need to be stronger and enforced policies to combat this health issue. There has to be more awareness campaigns counterattacking on what would happen if the victims continue to keep silence. Also, more research should be done on the cultural barriers and also implementation of policies to help individuals locked in the cultural practices and
