In the end what side you’re on comes down to the price you are willing to pay to defend this country. That price can be literal money or time and resources. Personally I believe we should do absolutely anything and at all coast to protect this country and especially protect the people fighting for it. I would be all for establishing an organization to gather domestic intelligence, in the end it would save many American lives and that’s what counts. You can never be too safe or to cautious. Like everything in the government though, it’s all going to come down to just how much money they want to waste this time. Many citizens of the United States want more transparency in just how much information the government collects on its own people. Every year the intelligence budget grows and grows. As stated in the article “the size of the National Intelligence community is not precisely known”. Well that can be a scary thought, how many people does the government have watching our everyday lives. Can you really trust every employee that gets so much access to your personal information? In the end all it comes down to is just like I mentioned in the first paragraph, how much do you care about your country’s safety? The PATRIOT Act is a controversial topic and personally I believe it has saved many lives by allowing agency’s more access to American citizen’s personal information. The FBI is expanding their role when it comes to domestic intelligence which is all fine and dandy I just hope it doesn’t distract them from the job they already do. There is a certain span of control and you cannot put too much burden on one single agency. With that said it bring us back to the topic of should the U.S. have a domestic intelligence organization? I believe that the country should be protected at all coast therefore I am in total support of the United States of America creating an organization that’s main purpose is domestic
