Domestic Disturbance: Case Study

I was dispatched to 105 Sandra Circle in reference to a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, I made contact with the victim(Vanessa Baker) and her children at the intersection of Rhett Ave and Butler Drive. I then called Brooks off to the side and asked Brooks what going on. Brooks advised that she and her children's father got into an argument tonight and it got physical. Brooks stated that she was putting her youngest daughter to sleep when her oldest daughter(Alexis Pressley) starting running to her saying "help me." Brooks advised that she walked into the room where James Pressley was at and asked what was going on. Brooks advised that her daughter made a smart comment to her daughter and then James started walking down the hallway saying "I'll beat you ass" to the daughter. Brook stated that she said, "I'm going to just get the children and we'll leave." That’s when James started getting physical with Baker. Baker stated that James took a red broom stick and bent it. James then took the bent broom stick and attempted to choke Baker. Baker advised that’s when Alexis jumped on James back to get him off. James then threw Alexis off his back, out the door.

I called Alexis off to the side and she advised the same story as Baker.

James then changed his story and advised that Baker hit him in the head with a lamp. James admitted to bending the broom stick and attempting to choke Baker. James also advised that Alexis jumped on him for no reason and that’s how the altercation started.

Alexis and Baker advised that the lamp wasn't used in the altercation.

James was considered the prodominent aggressor and placed under arrest for Domestic Violence 3rd/Menacing. James was transported to the Troy City Jail where he was processed and
