The community that one lives in has a large impact on the values, morals and interpretations of that individual. Often times false information is passed around or stereotypes are formed that pressure a group of people to act a certain way. For example, domestic violence can happen to anyone regardless of gender but our society constantly makes assumptions about how only certain groups are affected by this issue when that's not true. Most people assume women are the only victims of abuse as they, “jump on the cultural bandwagon. Meanwhile we are encouraging, invaliding, downplaying, or outright denying men who are victims of women” (Bog bit). Society has taught us that “men don't cry” and that they can handle anything thrown at them, but this is not the case because there are also men that are victims of domestic abuse. Although these differences in gender are intertwined with the human condition because males have always been the biologically stronger sex, society plays a larger role in creating divides and barriers between the genders. Humans are the ones who created gender based stereotypes that portrayed the male as tough and emotionless and the female as frail and dependent. These stereotypes weren't integrated into the human DNA and weren't caused by the human condition. However, they were sparked by the environmental conditions and the thoughts that people passed around and cultivated. Furthermore, there are also many external factors that people may be exposed to within their community during their lifetime which can result in violent behaviors. For example, exposure to drugs and alcohol can destroy a person's sense of judgement and impact the decisions that they make. Because drug use is inherently unpredictable for every single person they have a risk of experiencing negative side
