Domain 3D, Using Assessment in Instruction, gauges how the students are doing in the class. “Teachers gather what the student did not understand from evaluating “wrong” answers.” There are four components to Domain 3D: “assessment criteria, monitoring of student learning, feedback to students, and student self-assessment and monitoring of progress.” Assessment criteria refers to the way teachers create evaluations, and what types of examinations they create (refer to Domain 1F). Monitoring student learning can be done through a variety of methods, including: listening to the responses student is giving to questions, checking homework for accuracy, and discussions. Giving students feedback is a critical part of the learning experience.
