Dollar Shaving Club Persuasive Essay

Burma Shave and The Dollar Shave club's ad campaigns, while in different centuries, are in many ways very similar. They both came to be in a time where there really wasn't much demand for the product. People were already shaving and had their routines and products they preferred, so instead they both went for the largest problems with shaving at the time trying to change it; Burma with the problem of having to use a brush and lather up the shaving cream, and Dollar Shave Club with the problem of no really good cheap razors for anyone on a budget. They also both used humor at some points in their campaigns, however, Burma Shave went on to use their advertising as a public service with safety messages as well. In the days of Burma Shave, many people and families would spend a lot of time on the road and with Dollar Shave Club, most of their audience could be found online for much of their time. Dollar Shave Club, however, relied much on other's sharing the video with their friends as well by making the comedy the main focus of the video. In my opinion, Burma Shave was the most groundbreaking ad of the two, for the time it was in. Burma Shave didn't really base its ads of anything else. Before their ads on the side of the road, billboards weren't even a thing. They pioneered the roadside advertisement in such a way that everyone realized it and immediately joined in nearly to the point that Burma Shave became overshadowed leaving only it's legacy. Dollar Shave Club, however, still definitely pioneered in its own way, however, it based what it was doing off of what it saw was already out there becoming successful. They were just able to take that and become a part of it in a way no one had really done
