These two campaigns have a lot of differences but are also alike in some areas. Some of the similarities can be that they both use low budget marketing strategies, they sell men products, and they both have related uses. The differences between each one can be the huge year gap. Even though Burma Shave did not have advance technology at Dollar Shave Club have now, Burma was well known to the point of gaining “second highest selling shaving cream in the United States”. The only reason why the campaigns were so successful is that of the strategies both used to advertise their product. Rhetorical Analysis When one thinks of a commercial for an animal shelter, they probably picture monochromatic footage of a forlorn dog, wistfully gazing out from their metal confines onto a sea of animals equally as miserable as they are. Maybe a marginally popular vocalist makes a cameo in order to provide a few brief anecdotes about the progress that the animals have made since their days of suffering, and maybe the commercial closes with a montage of more animals as a somber ballad by the aforementioned vocalist plays over the footage. However, this commercial that you maybe have seen before is nothing like FurKids’ “Kitty Kommercial”, a low-budget advertisement that, without surprise, went viral and earned FurKids the fame of being the…

The funniest difference between the ads is that you can tell when the cigarette companies had to put health labels on their ads. In the 1979 Camel ad, it had a warning that this cigarette is bad for your health. Meanwhile, the 1940s Camel ad didn’t have these warnings. It was quite the opposite the 1940s Camel ad had what Jib Fowles would call “A need to feel safe appeal”. The 1940s Camel ad describes their product as the cigarette most consumed by doctors.…

Although it might be hard to see at first, these two POM Wonderful advertisements are actually fairly similar. These two different advertisements actually use some of the same strategies to attract the reader's attention and get the consumer interested in their product even though they are of a different medium. The first advertisement uses a printed image that shows simple colors and a strong message to encourage people to buy their product because it gives them antioxidants; however, the second advertisement uses a powerful dragon made out of their “crazy healthy” juice to create the illusion that the juice is as powerful as a dragon, yet the advertisement still sends the same message and same audience but uses a different strategy. These two…

The Tide Pods commercial conveyed a better message by using bright, happy colors, background music, and personal connection more efficiently than the Gain Flings commercial, due to the lack of ethos. The lighting in both the Tide Pods commercial, and the Gain Flings commercial was very bright, allowing the viewer to feel the happiness put off from the short commercial. The music in the Tide clip is very outgoing and adds a sense of trust in the product rather than the music in the Gain clip, showing less trust by using too much comedy with the background singers. Depending on how it’s used, comedy can influence good and bad feelings. Like in the Gain clip, the comedy with the singers made me feel a bit annoyed with the product.…

Animal abuse has been a constant, underlying issue in modern society for a long time. Hidden in plain sight, most people tend to ignore or miss the signs of animal abuse. This issue is addressed in the advertisements created by Mikayla Slom and Alexandria Wai at the ISF Academy. Designed to appeal to an audience of animal lovers, the two advertisements suggest that animal cruelty is hidden away in many aspects of our lives and aim to make the viewer take action. These two advertisements both convey their messages using short sentences, slogans and symbolism to make the viewer think about their own part in the problem and urge them to take action about the issue.…
