Here in Michigan Dollar General has opened stores in some questionable rural areas such as Le Roy, Michigan, (population 256) and Lake George, Michigan (population 65). A district manager from norther central Michigan, (Who wished not to be named), told me the reason for this was zip codes. When a customer makes a purchase a short survey is answered at the end of the purchase and one of those questions asked is the customers current area of residence.
