To her disbelief she finds torn up chunks of canvas near a dumpster not too far. Looking inside she examines a heap of ashes and immediately falls to the cement. She smelled the burning paint still sizzling with a couple of her pieces still able to make out. As if this isn't enough to set anyone off, taped on top of the dumpster is a flyer of some kind. It reads “Open gallery where you can enjoy unique pieces left and right. Enjoy our newest piece, “Doll Eyes.” And evidently a picture of Rebecca's infamous masterpiece is imprinted on the paper. Doll Girls promote unattainable beauty standards as much as they demand the male gaze. As John Berger points out in “Ways of Being,” women have often been considered an object of the male; men are the surveyor and women are the surveyed.
