Dogwood Forest Research Paper

As I say goodbye to Dogwood Forest, I am reminded of the many lessons that I have learned during my 10-week experience. First, I learned that the ability to ask the right questions is beneficial in connecting to individuals, and what matters to them the most. Next, I learned that I cannot help everyone, especially when they cannot or do not want to help themselves. This was one of the most painful lessons during my time with Dogwood Forest. On the other hand, I experienced the importance of therapeutic use of self when working on activities. In activities, poking fun at myself and use of humor, when a resident showed insecurity, really put some of the residents at ease. They were able to enjoy themselves while trying to decorate pumpkins,
